Amplifying Scotland’s Black Creative Voices
It’s been a real pleasure to work alongside my associate Stephen Browning on a new business plan for Be United, an entrepreneurial arts organisation set up by Emma Sithole and her co-founder Boysie Gumede to provide opportunities for Black artists working in the Scottish creative sector.

Over the last 10 years the company has grown from strength to strength, advocating for and celebrating Black, African and Caribbean excellence in Scotland across music, dance, photography and, most recently, film and TV.

BE United’s film and TV trading arm began after meeting with Amazon Studios through an introduction by Screen Scotland which led to a contract to cast over 1,000 Black extras for Amazon’s television adaption of Neil Gaiman’s Anansi Boys. You can listen to Emma, Collin Hills (Be United’s Creative Director) and several extras, talk about their Anansi Boys experience here. I loved tuning into this as part of my research into the company; it brings their vision to light in such a wonderful way.

We wish Be United massive success going forward!
