Kingsley Hall Heritage Project

Supporting a Round 2 National Lottery Heritage Fund application

As the South West’s largest youth homelessness charity, Bristol-based 1625ip has supported tens of thousands of young people to transform their lives since its inception 40 years ago. Finella was commissioned to develop the business plan supporting a multi-million pound Lottery project designed to bring Kingsley Hall, the charity’s Grade 2* listed building in Bristol’s Old Market conservation area, into a safe and welcoming place where young homeless people can rebuild their lives.

This pioneering project uses heritage as a platform to transform young people’s lives by developing their skills, building relationships, and strengthening their sense of identity and belonging. Engaging with young people was central to the business planning project and included a workshop with young people in 1625ip’s care as well as supporting and mentoring a young business apprentice, also working on the project.

Project Objectives:

Identify revenue generation options
Provide well researched evidence of demand
Create a long-term sustainable business model

We were looking for an experienced consultant to prepare a well-researched and watertight business case, but, critically, also someone with the skills and passion to work in partnership with young people throughout the process. Finella excelled in both dimensions. It was a pleasure working with Finella; she was so dedicated and committed and really went the extra mile.
